On Wednesday, 5 June 2019, Mr. Apirat Sugondhabhirom, Consul-General of Thailand to Ho Chi Minh City and the Consulate General's officer went to 3 Annamite or Anam Nikaya temples in Bangkok. These temples have long history related to the Vietnamese community in Thailand and Thai Buddhists of the school or tradition originated from Vietnam, the “Anam Nikaya” sect. They are:-
1) Kusalsamakorn Temple. This is the headquarters of the chief priest of all Anam Nikaya temples in Thailand. The Consul-General and officer paid homage to the Most Venerable Phra Kananam Thammaethacharn (Thanom Thien Thuk), the new chief priest of Anam Nikaya in Thailand, recently appointed by His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand on 26 December 2018. They discussed on the promotion of religious ties between Thai Buddhists in Anam Nikaya tradition and Vietnamese Buddhists, especially on the role that Royal Thai Consulate - General can contribute and facilitate.
2) Upairatchabamrung Temple. This is one of the oldest temples of Anam 
Nikaya in Thailand, and enjoys the patronage by the Kings in the Chakri dynasty, including King Rama IV and King Rama V. The Consul-General and officer paid homage and discussed with the Most Venerable Phra Somananamtheeracharn (Yuk Pla Min-Eeng), the abbot of the temple who is also senior member of the administration of the Anam Nikaya in Thailand, on the promotion of religious ties between Thai and Vietnamese peoples. 
3) Lokanukhroh Temple. This is an important temple in the history of Thai-Vietnamese relationship. The Consul-General and officer made a visit to the temple to learn more about its former abbot, Venerable Phrakhru Kananammasanacharn, who was also the former chief priest of the Anam Nikaya tradition in Thailand. The Venerable monk had played a role in helping President Ho Chi Minh (under his aliases Thao Chinh or Nguyen Ai Quoc) during his stay in Siam to carry on underground work for Vietnam’s independence of Vietnam in 1928-1929.
