It is no longer required for in-person submission of application. Applicants can now apply for an e-Visa online through the new e-Visa platform at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/
1. Requirement
This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to:
1.1. travel and remotely work (workcation) in Thailand e.g. foreign talent, freelancer, and digital nomad/remote worker;
1.2. travel and participate in activities in Thailand e.g. Muay Thai courses, cooking classes, sport trainings, medical treatment, seminars, as well as music festivals;
1.3. accompany their family member (only spouse and children under 20) who has DTV.
2. Document Required
2.1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document with validity not less than six months
2.2. Photograph taken within the last six months
2.3. Document indicating current location
2.4. Financial evidence: amount of no less than 500,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter
2.5. Document stating purpose of visit:
2.5.1. Workcation:
(1) employment contract from employer outside Thailand;
(2) employment certificate from employer outside Thailand;
(3) in case there is no employment, professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status.
2.5.2. Participation in activities e.g. muaythai, Thai culinary training and medical treatment: Proof of confirmation to attend certain activity or letter of appointment from hospital/medical center
2.5.3. Spouse and children under 20 years old of DTV visa holders:
(1) proof of relationship to the main DTV applicant/holder;
(2) copy of passport of the main DTV applicant/holder, including a personal data page and DTV page (if applicable);
(3) copy marriage certificate (for spouse);
(4) birth certificate (for children);
(5) adoption certification (for adopted children).
All documents must be in Thai or English. If the documents are in any other language, please provide translations in Thai or English. Official translation issued by certified translation offices is highly recommended.
3. Period of Stay:
Holder of DTV is entitled to stay in Thailand for a maximum period of 180 days. They may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau located at Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel. 0-2141-9889 or at website www.immigration.go.th and may be granted such extension for a period of 180 days. After such extended period (180 days + 180 days), the holder must depart Thailand, and would be able to re-enter with the same DTV within the visa validity date.
4. Validity of Visa: 5 years
5. Visa Fee:
- Visa processing fee: 340 USD
- Payment method: Payment must be made using debit or credit cards ONLY.
- The visa fee is non-refundable.
6. Processing Time: 5 working days (NOT including the day of submission)
- If your visa application is incomplete, the processing time will reset on the day you resubmit the additional documents.
- If you submit your visa application on holidays, the first processing day will be the following working day.
- The processing time can take longer for certain cases. Applicants are advised to submit their applications at least 2 weeks before travel time.
- Expedited visa application is NOT available. Faster visa processing beyond the standard timeline is only possible in cases of medical or family emergencies. Applicants must provide valid and reasonable proof of urgency for the Consulate-General's consideration. Please note that NOT ALL requested visa expedition is granted.

- The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh reserves the rights to request additional documents, interviews, or to disapprove as deemed necessary.
- An alien who receives a Non-Immigrant visa can work in Thailand once he or she is being granted a work permit. An alien in violation of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) concerning taking up employment without work permit or the Royal Decree B.E.2522 (1979) concerning holding employment in certain restricted occupations and professions shall be prosecuted and imprisoned or fined, or shall face both penalties.
