Non-Immigrant Visa "O" -- Volunteer

 

1. Requirement

This type of visa is issued to traveler who wishes to enter Thailand as volunteer to work in a non-governmental organisation in Thailand.

2. Non-Immigrant O Visa Conditions

    2.1 Non-Immigrant O Visa is valid for a single entry for volunteer-related purposes only.

    2.2 Non-Immigrant O Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Non-Immigrant O Visa holder will be allowed to stay up to 90 days counting from the date of entry.

    2.3 During the 90-day stay, if Non-Immigrant O Visa holder wishes to leave and re-enter Thailand, he/she is required to apply for a re-entry permit from the Office of Immigration Bureau.  Extension of stay is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer. (http://www.immigration.go.th)

    2.4 If the Non-Immigrant O Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked, and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

3. Document Required

    3.1 Passport with validity not less than 6 months

    3.2 Filled Visa application form

    3.3 One (01) recent 4 x 6 cm. photograph of applicant affixes to the visa application form

    3.4 Document/letter from Thai government agency (at the departmental level) and supervises or has a mission consistent with the voluntary organization/foundation, certifying the applicant.

    3.5 Invitation or acceptance letter from the concerned organization in Thailand indicating the following details:

          (1) Job position

          (2) Volunteer/work programme

          (3) Length of stay in Thailand

    3.6 Copy of ID card (for Thai national) or passport and work permit (for foreigners) of the person signing an invitation or acceptance letter

    3.7 Documents from the organization:

          (1) Copy of concerned organization's registration certificate or license in Thailand 

          (2) Copy of ID card (for Thai national) or passport and work permit (for foreigners) of the chairman/head of the organization

          (3) List of Board of Directors 

          (4) Organization profile

          Note: Copies of organization’s documents must be signed by the Board of Directors or authorised managing director and affixed seal of organisation on all pages.

    3.8 Evidence of adequate finance 

          A bank statement in the past 6 months showing minimum fund of 20,000.- THB per person

    3.9 Additional requirements for some certain countries:

         Nationals of Certain Countries (Click) are required to apply for a visa ONLY at Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country. However, those who are residing in Vietnam and holding The Vietnamese Residence Card and/or Work Permit, are able to apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City by providing a copy of the Vietnamese Temporary/Permanent residence card and/or Work Permit with legalization stamp from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations

4. Visa Fee :

    - Single entry 80 USD 
    - Visa Fees are accepted in US Dollars only and in cash ONLY.
    - Visa Fees are non-refundable.  

5. Processing times:

    - Processing time for a complete visa application will take Two (02) working days
    - Visa application submission shall be made by online appointment ONLY at Click

6. Working hours: 9.00 am- 11.30 am and 13.30 pm- 15.00 pm

7. Validity of a Visa: Three (03) months

8. Period of Stay:

    Holder of this type of visa is entitled to stay in Thailand for a maximum period of 90 days. He or she may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau and may be granted such extension for up to a period of one year.

9. Remarks

  • All personal documents (e.g., copy of identity card, passport, work permit, Thai house registration, etc.) shall be certified true copy, signed and dated by the owner of the documents.
  • All documents shall be in Thai or English ONLY.
  • Documents in foreign languages shall be translated into English or Thai and legalised by the public notary or the respective Embassy/Consulate-General.
