Non-Immigrant ED – Studying/Attending Seminar, Training session in Thailand | Thị thực Đi học/Đi tập huấn tại Thái Lan

It is no longer required for in-person submission of application. Applicants can now apply for an e-Visa online through the new e-Visa platform at https://www.thaievisa.go.th/

1. Requirement

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to study (below bachelor’s degree), attend seminar, training session or curricular internship in Thailand.

2. Document Required

2.1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document with validity not less than six months

2.2. Photograph taken within the last six months

2.3. Document indicating current location

2.4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

2.5. Documents from school:

2.5.1. For studying (elementary to secondary level):

(1) Letter from relevant authority under the Ministry of Education or International School

(2) Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

2.5.2. For studying (vocational, technical and university diploma below bachelor’s degree):

(1) Letter from Institute/University

(2) Letter confirming enrollment details from Institute/University signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

2.5.3. For studying a short course (Thai or English language) or attending Muaythai training:

(1) Letter from relevant authority under the Ministry of Education/Letter from relevant organizations including Sports Authority of Thailand

(2) Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

2.5.4. For attending seminar, training session: Letter from the government agency or note verbale from foreign mission and international organization in Thailand

2.5.5. For monk, nun, priest to study dharma: Letter from National office of Buddhism

2.5.6. For curricular internship:

(1) Letter confirming the curricular internship from the visa applicant’s university/educational institute

(2) Letter confirming the internship/participation in a program from the company/international organization

3. Period of Stay

Holder of this type of visa is entitled to stay in Thailand for a maximum period of 90 days. He or she may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau at Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel. 0-2141-9889 or at website www.immigration.go.th and may be granted such extension for a period of one year from the date of first entry into Thailand.

4. Validity of Visa: 3 months

5. Visa Fee

- Single entry: 80 USD

- Payment method: Payment must be made using debit or credit cards ONLY.

- The visa fee is non-refundable.

6. Processing Time: 5 working days

- If your visa application is incomplete, the processing time will reset on the day you submit the additional documents.

- If you submit your visa application on a Saturday or Sunday, the first day of processing will be the following Monday.

- The processing time can take longer for certain cases.

- The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh reserves the rights to request additional documents, interviews, or to disapprove as deemed necessary.

- An alien who receives a Non-Immigrant visa can work in Thailand once he or she is being granted a work permit. An alien in violation of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979) concerning taking up employment without work permit or the Royal Decree B.E.2522 (1979) concerning holding employment in certain restricted occupations and professions shall be prosecuted and imprisoned or fined, or shall face both penalties.

Non-Immigrant ED Plus – Studying at Bachelor's Degree Level or Above in Thailand| Thị thực Đi học Bậc Cử nhân Trở lên tại Thái Lan

1. Requirement

This type of visa is applied for applicants who are international students currently studying at universities/institutions in Thailand at a bachelor’s degree level or above.

2. Document Required

2.1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document with validity not less than six months

2.2. Photograph taken within the last six months

2.3. Document indicating current location

2.4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

2.5. Letter from University

2.6. Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

3. Period of Stay:

- During the course of study, foreign students in bachelor degree level or higher can depart and re-enter Thailand without the need for a re-entry permit.

- Universities/Institutions will submit the visa extension application on behalf of the students.

- Foreign students are allowed to extend the stay in Thailand for 1 year after graduating to seek employment, travel or participate in other activities and are eligible to apply for new type of visa in Thailand if employed.
